CONGRATULATIONS Ms. Alexander!

JVE love's you!

The Alabama Association for Elementary School Principals (AAESP) District 10—which encompasses Huntsville City, Madison City, Madison County, Scottsboro City, and Jackson County Schools—is proud to announce the nomination of Ms. Crystal Alexander, Principal of Jones Valley Elementary School, as District 10’s Principal of the Year. Ms. Alexander will also represent District 10 as a candidate for statewide recognition and consideration for the esteemed National Distinguished Principal Award, presented by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).

Ms. Alexander began her career with Huntsville City Schools in 2009 following the completion of her undergraduate program in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development from Alabama A&M University. She launched her teaching career at Ed White Middle School, where she taught sixth grade.

She subsequently joined Westlawn Middle School, serving in multiple leadership capacities as Instructional Partner, Curriculum Specialist, and Turnaround Specialist. In these roles, she oversaw the successful implementation of a School Improvement Grant awarded by the Alabama State Department of Education.

Upon the closure of Westlawn, Ms. Alexander transitioned to Highlands Elementary School, where she served as Curriculum Specialist for one year. During this time, she pursued a Master’s degree and Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from Jacksonville State University. Following the completion of her graduate studies, she was appointed Assistant Principal of Jones Valley Elementary School, a position she held for two years.Ā

In 2020, Ms. Alexander was named Principal of Jones Valley Elementary School, where she continues to lead with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success. Since serving JVE, the students ,faculty, and staff have increased their overall state and national report card grade from an 88 to a 93. Ms. Alexander credits the success of her school to all stakeholders, parents, staff, and students. Fostering a culture of acceptance, understanding, patience, and love are some of her core values for creating a positive learning environment for her students and a positive work environment for her faculty and staff. She ends every announcement to students and sometimes even staff and parents with ā€œRemember that we love youā€!
